Tamar Geller's Celebrate Your Dog! DVD Celebrate Your Dog!
The Loved Dog Way of Training by Tamar Geller

First DVD from Oprah’s Personal Dog Coach

Los Angeles CA, June 1, 2007 -- Internationally recognized for her cruelty-free method for teaching dogs and their people to communicate, and following the April release of her revolutionary and NY Times Bestseller book "The Loved Dog: The Playful Nonaggressive Way to Teach Your Dog Good Behavior” (Simon Spotlight Entertainment), Tamar Geller releases her first dog training DVD series, "Celebrate Your Dog! The Loved Dog Way of Training by Tamar Geller.”

Known for insight, enthusiasm and red-carpet glamour, Geller rejects the painful prong collars and choke chains that have been common tools of dog trainers for decades. Her innovative approach to dog training is light-years ahead of the typical dog trainer pack. Her new video promises to finally bring dog training into the 21st century.

Called a "life coach for dogs” by Oprah, Tamar prefers the term "well-mannered” to "obedient” and "coaching” to "training.” Geller was recently featured on "The Oprah Winfrey Show” as Oprah’s personal dog coach, training Oprah’s three golden retrievers, and has provided insight to millions of dog enthusiasts nationwide as resident dog expert on "The Today Show” and Animal Planet’s "Who Gets the Dog.” Geller has also been featured on CNN, CBS, ABC, Fox, "Good Morning Britain,” as well as in the pages of USA Today, Newsweek, US Weekly, the Los Angeles Times and Self magazine, among others.

Tamar became interested in dogs as she watched their training while serving as an Intelligence Officer with the elite Israeli Army Special Forces. After finishing her service, she had the extraordinary opportunity to study wolves in their natural habitat, observing that they taught their young primarily through games. Concluding that a dog possesses aspects of both wolf and human toddler, Geller created her innovative and revolutionary approach.

"Dogs are amazingly sensitive and intuitive creatures,” Geller says. If you use stress-free, game-based behavior training (such as what we use with children) to teach them to communicate with you, you can train them not only to do what you want, but also to anticipate what you want. This is a much more successful method than using fear and aggression to force a dog to obey your command or submit to your will.”

Wayne Pacelle, President and CEO of the Humane Society of the United States says, "The Loved Dog method is nothing short of a revolution. Tamar reminds us that understanding and respect are the key words in dog training in the twenty-first century.”

A founding member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers, Geller is the go-to trainer for celebrities such as Oprah Winfrey, Ben Affleck, Courteney Cox-Arquette, Nicollette Sheridan, Owen Wilson, Brad Paisley and the Osbourne family, among others.

An active philanthropist, Geller has an uncanny ability to give a voice to dogs, serving as an advisor to the Humane Society of the United States and Best Friends Animal Society. She also supports Covenant House, where she created, sponsors and teaches the "Passionate Pups” program, bringing homeless youth and homeless dogs together. On the political front, Geller works with key politicians to promote legislation that will improve the quality of life for dogs; her long-term goal is to develop a national program in which homeless dogs work with prison inmates to be trained as service dogs.

Geller’s extraordinary vision led her to open The Loved Dog™, Southern California’s first cage-free doggie daycare and boarding facility, in 1996. Two years later, "Good Morning America” tapped The Loved Dog as the "Best of the Best;” Los Angeles magazine named it twice as "Best in Los Angeles.”

Geller’s goal in training dogs to be well-mannered members of the family is backed up by statistics recently released by the American Pet Products Manufacturers Association, stating that now more than ever, dogs and cats are considered like children or family members—more than 27 percent of dog owners and 13 percent of cat owners even buy their pets birthday presents. And the proof is in the pudding: pet spending is at an all-time high, doubling from $17 billion in 1994 to $36 billion in 2005, and projected to be more than $40 billion in 2006.

"Celebrate Your Dog!” is a two-disc presentation featuring over 80 minutes of content (Teaching Basic Manners, Volume 1 and Bonus Lesson – Housebreaking), which includes the extra content Quick Tips and a Special Message from Tamar. It sells for $29.95 at TamarGeller.com and The LovedDog.com.
